Here at HotCam we have a strong tradition of developing our people. Through our unique hands-on in-house training programme we help our staff to grow by providing ample opportunities for promotion and skills development. But we don't just sit around talking about 'training.' We actually go out and do it: getting up-to-speed with new kit, sharing new ideas and adding to our customer service capabilities.

Staff even get the chance to do a tour of duty in our New York office too, further expanding their experiences. As a result, many of our runners and kitroom coordinators go on to become senior members of staff right here at HotCam.

In his role as managing director (and chief executive officer) Trevor Hotz is very much the captain of the HotCam ship, steering the company both in the US and the UK as it expertly provides its broadcast equipment hire services to television producers. With a vast knowledge of multi-camera productions, Trevor is often asked to provide consultancy to producers, detailing how best to bring their programmes in on time and within budget. Prior to starting HotCam in 1998 Trevor worked as a sound recordist and mixer, winning a BAFTA Craft Award in 2003 for Factual Sound. When not working Trevor can generally be found taking orders from his dog Jerry, the true boss of HotCam.

Before locating to New York, president Ali Grapes freelanced as a Unit/ Production Manager in the UK and USA for various production companies including Endemol/ Initial, Wall to Wall USA, 12 Yard, Thames Fremantle Media, September Films, L!VE TV, Leopard Films and Lion TV, working on productions for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Bravo USA and Discovery USA. Throughout her career Ali has worked on a broad range of genres, including factual, entertainment, news, reality, live location/ OB and studio. Before freelancing, Ali worked for GMTV as Creative Services Manager and gained Post Production experience as General Manager of M2 in Camden, London. Before joining the Film Department at Thames Television in 1988, Ali started her career working in the TV Department for advertising agency, Young & Rubicam.

Facility ManagerFacility Manager

Aussie Brooke Taylor took up the role of Facility Manager in late 2012. Her extensive background as a production manager on shows like Masterchef Australia, Farmer Wants a Wife, Australia's Next Top Model, and many others, is a huge asset to HotCam's clients and to our day-to-day operations.

Daniel FarmerDaniel Farmer
Technical ManagerTechnical Manager

Daniel has extensive knowledge of all technical equipment and aspects of broadcast production both in the field and in post production. He has an in depth understanding of all broadcast work flow from SD, HD camera formats, audio, lighting and editing and is consequently an asset to any production. Daniel has Camera Assisted on productions such as ‘The X Factor – Boot Camp in LA’ and for Canadian - ‘How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria’. When Daniel re-located from Australia to New York he briefly worked for New York’s famous B & H and before this was employed by Video Craft Australia in his home town of Sydney.

Engineering SupervisorEngineering Supervisor

Prior to joining HotCam Marge worked as Vice President of Engineering of a well established rental facility in NYC. During her 15 years there she helped the company and its clients migrate from analogue to the cutting edge era of digital and tapless recording. Marge was responsible for managing and training staff in both the engineering and repair departments and streamlined the workflows of both departments to maximize client support. Marge is highly respected within the TV and Film industry in New York and has great relationships with major manufacturers and vendors.

Andrew NowakAndrew Nowak
Rental ManagerRental Manager

Andrew took up the position of technical co-ordinator in December 2010. His wide-ranging industry experience includes 1st and 2nd assistant camera roles on television shows, features and commercials. Andrew has also worked in the art and wardrobe departments and taken on a variety of technical duties during his career including the positions of P2 playback operator and Film Loader. His skillset includes a working knowledge of Final Cut Pro HD 5 and Adobe After Effects as well as first hand experience of the Canon 7D and 5D Mark II DSLR cameras, Sony’s XDCAM and DVCAM camcorders and Panasonic’s HVX 200A. Andrew was promoted to Rental Technician in May 2011.
